41 Ton Automated Rail Mounted Container Cranes for Smart Port

This project is a new petrochemical base with an annual capacity of 40 million tons for a large refining enterprise in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, with the construction of a smart port. Due to the low efficiency of the traditional manual operation mode and the increase in labor costs, they asked Weihua to quote automated rail mounted container cranes for an unmanned container yard.

Customer Requirements

• Realize the unmanned and efficient operation of the container yard for 7×24 hours.
• Lifting capacity reaches 41 tons, which needs to realize accurate positioning and safe lifting.
• Establish an intelligent management system to realize visual monitoring of the whole process of operation.

Weihua Solution

In response to the above requirements, Weihua's technical team made a field visit to the project, carried out the deployment and simulator demonstration of the scheme, and finally customized the design of 6 remote automated rail container cranes (RACCs) for the project. Remote Automated Rail-mounted Container Cranes (RMG), with the following main features:

• Dual Positioning System: laser + encoder redundant detection, positioning accuracy of ±5mm.
• Panoramic Monitoring System: Each unit is equipped with a 24-channel HD camera, monitoring covers the running track, container, lane, and other areas.
• Intelligent control system: integrating automatic anti-shaking, container scanning and identification, and one-key automated operation functions.
• Remote monitoring platform: real-time display of equipment state of the equipment Three-dimensional simulation Remote monitoring platform: real-time display of three-dimensional simulation of the status of the equipment Remote monitoring platform: real-time display of equipment status 3D analog animation. Support multi-machine cooperative scheduling operation.

Project Results

At present, the smart port has realized completely unattended operation, while greatly improving the efficiency of container turnover. The automated rail container cranes are seamlessly connected to the port's TOS system, realizing the traceability of the whole process operation data. The successful implementation of this project provides a benchmark case for automated smart port projects, and it is believed that more smart ports will adopt automated rail crane solutions.
